Logan and Kai celebrate their birthday this month. They walk home from school, and empathize with eachother about their crazy sisters. Logan always wins the most pity with Mallory; she’s been throwing more tantrums than ever since their Mom got married.
Logan doesn’t think it’d be bad if his Mom had another baby, but Mallory swears she’ll run away if she does. Kai doesn’t even know what to say, he’s always been happy with his little sisters, and loved his step Dad Luca too.
Itzel London (22 years), Linnea Barthelet (22 years)
Once Itzel and Rafael had decided to wait on living together, there was no other option than to live with Linnea. They’d been best friends since forever, this was a natural choice. Itzel’s Dad, Cole helped them find a nice second floor duplex. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, Itzel even had a fireplace in her bedroom. It was a very nice find.
Chaz Holmes celebrates his fifteenth birthday with his secret girlfriend, Cicely. She arrives ahead of him, faster on her skates than his walking.
Next month is their one year anniversary, and they’ve never been on an actual date.
(McCarthy Household Profile)
Finn McCarthy (57 years), Nicole (57 years), Elias (24 years)
Since Marta quit after her demotion, Zoe-Gen had struggled to find employees. Nicole had interviewed Lulu Grimsley, and then the girl had the audacity to refuse the job offer. Hiring was a weary process, but even more pressing with Lily-Mae starting at EU in a month.
She had called Riley Gray to come in after seeing her application. Failing to get a fashion degree from EU was mildly alarming, but it wasn’t enough to say no. Bethany Louie had zero experience when hired, and she’d just been promoted to assistant.

When you find out your sister is your Mom, and your parents are actually your grandparents, you get a pet bird. At least in my experience. I’d wanted a pet bird for years, and they’d decided it was an appropriate time to cave. That was all just over a year ago, and KiKi is my favorite part of home these days.
It isn’t exactly anger, but there is an unhealing wound. Perhaps if I had more time it would begin to subside, but I’m not hopeful.
Every single one of my family members knew the truth, and no one had ever bothered to even give me a hint. Mom and Dad are still my parents, I’ve decided that much. Julia has never even been a great sister to me, Hadley has always had my back, so it doesn’t even compute to consider her as my Mom. There’s a break in my sanity when I even consider that I’m from her.
From her, and who else?
Miriam’s birthday sneaks up on her, forty-seven years old. It baffles her, time has gone quickly, but strangely slow in the same breath. They’d talked about having a baby, but with this birthday, it seems foolish. She really is getting too old to start over.
She tries to escape her own head by taking the girls dress shopping. They’ve decided on a quiet ceremony at the park, afterall second marriages don’t usually warrant the same fanfare.
Shira is amped up, dresses excite her, but it isn’t the same story for Scarlett or Elodie.
Adam Brindley ( years), Paloma ( years), Hugo and Odessa (3 months)
The twins turn three months, and they seem to require a more rigid sleep schedule than previously. It’s almost like the older they get, they are more demanding. Paloma’s Mom tells her that won’t always be the case, but it’s disheartening to Paloma as she hopes to juggle parenthood and the bakery very soon.
Love + Flour took a financial hit during the spring. They hadn’t been able to find someone to replace Paloma temporarily. Anyone with the experience wanted the full-time gig, with benefits, and job security. They weren’t offering those things, because Paloma fully intended to return to work in 6 months or so, at least part-time.
While some customers wished the new family good luck, some were more interested in their pastries and fulfilling their cravings.
