Chilly days arrived and the leaves began to fall, which made it more pleasant to be outside. The twins were two, and they always seemed to be getting into something. They had some delays, Hugo even more so, and on afternoons off, they tended to their twins’ needs.

Odessa looked to Hugo for encouragement with walking while Hugo wasn’t scared as much as he just didn’t have the skill.

Hugo struggled with speech and movement, and Paloma worked with him the most as Adam felt inept.

The twins turn three months, and they seem to require a more rigid sleep schedule than previously. It’s almost like the older they get, they are more demanding. Paloma’s Mom tells her that won’t always be the case, but it’s disheartening to Paloma as she hopes to juggle parenthood and the bakery very soon.

Love + Flour took a financial hit during the spring. They hadn’t been able to find someone to replace Paloma temporarily. Anyone with the experience wanted the full-time gig, with benefits, and job security. They weren’t offering those things, because Paloma fully intended to return to work in 6 months or so, at least part-time.

While some customers wished the new family good luck, some were more interested in their pastries and fulfilling their cravings.

The hospital had scheduled Paloma’s induction for five am, which meant that they had to rise well before the sun. The trees were beginning to blossom and bud, and it felt right with Paloma to be entering the season of rebirth with the delivery of her twins.

Her family knew of the induction, and actually beat her to the hospital. Her sister, Linnea had come in the night before from EU, and despite Paloma insisting that she’d call as soon as the babies arrived, they came to wait.

Paloma is six months pregnant with the twins, and already feels grotesquely huge. She struggles just getting out of bed with all the weight she’s carrying in the front.

Each morning, Adam comes out of the bathroom, as she’s preparing to go in. He gives the twins a good morning talk, tells them to stay put, and that they have to listen, because he is their Dad.

Our bakery was celebrating its one year anniversary, and we had decided to release a blueberry cheesecake to commemorate the occasion.

We had gotten into a routine with Adam cooking breakfast while I got ready, but recently I was coming down with him and rummaging through the fridge.
