I moved in with Lainey after graduating from Eastborough, and we are finally getting into a rhythm. It wasn’t what I would have expected of living with my lifelong best friend.

Mom and Dad threw their annual Christmas party at the beginning of the month, it’s full of stodgy people, most of which are past Mayors, including my Dad. Only the Grimsley family even have actual children, the rest are senior citizens. Alice came home from EU for the event, Mom actually planned it for after her finals so she could spend the holiday season with us.

It’s my second year at Eastborough, and it’s just starting to feel like I belong here. My Freshmen year was difficult, I missed my family, and felt guilty for not missing them enough, especially Nolan. I’m trying to really throw myself into the college experience this year, I’m still studying to be a journalist. It’s always been my goal, but I sort of lost my desire after Nolan was born. I’ve gotten it back though, and my dorm mate Brooklyn has been part of the reason.

Recently Dad had, what he thought, was a brilliant idea. He was no longer mayor, and pushing retirement age himself, and he thought that his Mom should move in with us. She’s been out in Millwood all alone for years now. This isn’t the first time that Dad has wanted to move her in, but Grandma has never heard of it before.

I had been thrilled that Brooklyn would be at Linden Dormitory with me, unfortunately we were not assigned as dormmates, and instead I was stuck with Lauren. Even though Isaac broke up with her after he left for college, I can’t even begin to forgive her or feel sorry for her. She made Julia’s life miserable, saying that Nolan wasn’t Isaac’s baby, when it obviously is his kid.

I got my acceptance letter from Eastborough University, and it came with the surprising news that I was eligible for a full ride scholarship. I scored a 60 on my SAT, and I am the first student to qualify for this, not even Lainey scored as high as I did.

narrated by: Cole

I’ve been under a significant amount of stress lately, with keeping my law firm afloat, while taking care of my Mayor duties, and juggling my home life. Some nights when I come home, the downstairs is empty with only the kitchen light on for me. I usually find Alice is still awake, chatting with her friends on the laptop, or reading about starlets. She’s gotten it in her mind that she’s going to be a movie star, or an old fashioned pin-up model. I keep hoping it’s a phase, but Lucy isn’t sure it is.
