Rosabella and Trey have been dating about two years, and while he may be interested in marriage, she isn’t quite there yet. Which is a relief to me, first because I don’t want to hunt a new roommate, and second, because neither of them can cook; she’d likely die.

Julia and Elias have only been dating for six months, and Alice feels they’re moving too quickly. Elias stays over regularly now that the harvest is over, and Alice would like some time with her own boyfriend without Elias squeezing in the center.

Alice and Martin will be together for two years come March, and he definitely stays in his own bed more than hers.

When you find out your sister is your Mom, and your parents are actually your grandparents, you get a pet bird. At least in my experience. I’d wanted a pet bird for years, and they’d decided it was an appropriate time to cave. That was all just over a year ago, and KiKi is my favorite part of home these days.

It isn’t exactly anger, but there is an unhealing wound. Perhaps if I had more time it would begin to subside, but I’m not hopeful.

Every single one of my family members knew the truth, and no one had ever bothered to even give me a hint. Mom and Dad are still my parents, I’ve decided that much. Julia has never even been a great sister to me, Hadley has always had my back, so it doesn’t even compute to consider her as my Mom. There’s a break in my sanity when I even consider that I’m from her.

From her, and who else?

Having Julia for a roommate has been great, we’ve been close friends since grade school. We don’t mind doing mundane things together ether, like meeting up on Thursday after work, and getting groceries together. Lainey was a bit of a dictator over groceries that I mostly just paid her and picked up my own stuff after work. It’s actually a decent time with Julia though.

I’ve spent my entire marriage just going along with the popular vote, which meant that I lived with my inlaws for my entire adult life, and raised all of my children under their strong presence and vocal opinions. Until we sold the cabin a few years back, I had at least a bedroom that was decorated to my taste.

After her passing, it became abundantly clear to Grant that we needed to move. It was his childhood home, and he works at his family business; he has never had to say goodbye to anything or anyone. The move was especially hard for him and Merrill.

Miner Hall was updated over the summer, now our second floor has a lounge area and finally we have some vending machines. Mom doesn’t approve of garbage food or the high prices, but sometimes a college student needs a late-night snack.

I’m also a fan of the new arcade games. The main floor has pinball, but I’ve never been a master pinball player. I feel that I at least get my coin worth when I play these newer games instead.

I graduated med school last June, and have a fancy MD tacked at the end of my name, but I still have four more years left of residency to be a surgeon. Neil is going to be a General Practitioner, and already has more responsibilities and trust than I do, which is perturbing. I understand that in the end, I will be light years ahead of him, but being treated like I’m ignorant because my residency is longer is asinine.
