December started with their Grandpa John being admitted for a staph infection. Morgan wasn’t terribly concerned for her Dad, having seen it on elderly many times in her career, and she felt confident with her skills to get her Dad back on the mend and back home.

The girls were more rattled by it all, and they missed him terribly at home.

Only two months left in our junior year and neither of us are prepared for next year. Well Cicely is more prepared, just because she’s known what she wanted to do since she was five. She’s going to be a doctor, just like Mom and Grandma.

I sit in Advanced Biology falling asleep, the cute student teacher, Mr. Millett doesn’t even help keep me alert. I’m not exactly skeeved out by blood or cells, I just don’t care about it at all.

Morgan had to work on the twins’ actual birthday, so they’d gotten permission to go shopping with some girls from school, and they scheduled the family pool party for later in the month. With great persistence, the girls had talked her into a co-ed birthday party. They insisted that turning fifteen and being banned from boys was archaic, and Morgan wasn’t swayed. It wasn’t until they exclaimed that Lewis had ruined their lives did she relent.

She was ornery, and the heart disease diagnoses had not calmed her bristly personality. But now and then, John would find that she was softer, more willing to dance to his old records, and reminisce on the life they’d led.

The girls celebrated their tenth birthday last month, and Lewis moved to university around the same time. Hard to believe that I finished with one teenager just for the girls to start that joyous time all too soon. My parents like to think they had it rough raising me, but they lack all realization on what it is like to raise twin girls that are filled with silly bones.
