august 2031 birthday

august 2031

After a long day under the hot sun, Miriam passes out from heat exhaustion. Dr. Morgan had urged her to take it easy, but it’s difficult for Miriam to not be occupied, especially when there is still so much left to be done.

Quint rushes down to the hospital to find Miriam resting and with an IV to get her fluids back where they needed to be. Dr. Morgan insists Miriam and baby are both fine, but that the dehydration seems to have caused labor, as the machine is picking up on regular contractions.

They won’t be going home until after the baby has arrived, and she suggests Quint get everything in order, because she suspects it will go quickly as soon as Miriam awakes.

Quint and his new wife are determined to borrow the kids for a week at a time; apparently Miriam enjoys playing house with my children. I’ve obliged, but I’m awfully lonely with the empty house.

I pull longer shifts at the diner when they are away.

december birthdays 2030

Isaiah Gavigan is turning 33, and Maeve decided to make him a cheesecake for dessert. She tries to interest Margot in the baking process, but she scrambles off as soon as Maeve turns her back.

Isaiah brings the rugrat back to the kitchen, but she’s really not interested in baking. Maeve tries to not have hurt feelings over it, but she’s always wanted a daughter to bake with, and she never considered Margot might not enjoy it.

Shira and Wyatt have the most difficult time adjusting to the new house and step-family. As much as Shira enjoyed her new sister, Elodie, sometimes she wanted peace and quiet. Asher never grated her nerves the way Elodie could without doing anything in particular; she wasn’t sure if it was a twin thing or an Elodie thing.

She talked during movies too, they both loved reading and movies, and Elodie talked through them entirely. How could one enjoy a film if you prattled on the entire time?

til death do us part

september 2030
previous update

Elodie’s nerves were fraying as they arrived at Waverly Gardens. She was apprehensive about the union, and feeling melancholy for her Mom who was sitting at home alone; she didn’t even have Gulliver their dog since he passed.

Quint complimented Elodie as she walked over. He knew this day was a struggle for everyone, including himself. There was an underlying pathos amongst them all even as they tried to be happy for the moment.

april birthdays 2030 – Siew & Dwyer weekend trip

april 2030

At Scarlett’s suggestion, Quint and Miriam bring their children up to the Cascade Mountains. Quint is celebrating his 40th birthday and Scarlett her 20th. While the adults had been excited about the trip, the children weren’t as enthused.

Before heading to their hotel suite, Shira needed a pep talk. The mere notion of sharing a hotel room with strangers was very uncomfortable.

Things are different. He isn’t sure that they are better, but they aren’t the same. He’s sure someone has told him that change is good, but he isn’t sure that’s true.

Miriam cooks him breakfast. Rebecca did that for him, but this feels more intimate. Perhaps before Scarlett was born, they had been more romantic, but he didn’t believe that to be true. All he remembered was a marriage of never being good enough.
