Ella Carver graduates Jefferson High with a 59 SAT score; she was one point shy of a full-ride. However, she was very pleased to receive the half-tuition, especially when paired with her other scholarships.
She received four scholarships with the Dannon Local Award and McCarthy Assistance Fund being the most prestigious. Her social worker, Kenzie helped her fill out the paperwork for the McCarthy Fund, as it is for adopted children.
She’s studying music, although she isn’t sure what she will do with it yet.
She had many regrets in her life, they piled in abundance like forgotten gumballs in an antique shop. It wasn’t new to have one now, but it was a different type. When it came to her childhood and Mom, there were many things she’d have done differently. The consequences had been heavy, but this wasn’t one of those great regrets. This was simpler, but still deep.
When he’d asked her out, she’d said no. It had seemed wise at the time; she hadn’t wanted to jeopardize the band. But on the eve of her final high school days, and no longer a band-mate, it felt like she had sacrificed too much.

Cesar Gonzales (39 years), Ella Carver (18 years), Marisol (12 years), Manuel (12 years)
The weight of decision burdens Ella, making every morning a struggle to get out of bed.
Summer break is nearly upon her, and that’s the problem. She desperately wants to sleep in, but all the responsibility and choices lay in those months ahead.
Ella Carver celebrates her eighteenth birthday with a trip to EU. She hasn’t decided yet if she will attend next fall, but she’s pretty positive she will be accepted. She takes her final SAT test this spring, and then she will need to make her decision.
Her sister, Marisol didn’t come to the tour. They’ve never been very close, and Cesar hasn’t been successful in his attempts to bring them together. Manny came though, he’s always been Ella’s cheerleader, and the most akin to her and their late Mom.
Both of the men in her life are really pumped at the idea of college for Ella.
(Goss Household Profile)
Kenzie Goss (66 years), Tyler (64 years)
After raising children for about forty-six years, it was time for Kenzie and Tyler to downsize their home. Dean was a junior at EU, and it didn’t sound like he’d be needing his old bedroom after graduation. He didn’t know exactly what he was going to do, but he had options, and so they sold their home.
Principal: Bekah Grimsley, Teachers: Brooklyn McCarthy and Rosabella Steinman
The teachers meet in the faculty room as the school buses pull up outside. Bekah obliged Brooklyn’s request to coach the soccer team, despite her baby being due in the middle of the season.
Neither Bekah nor Rosabella wanted the extra task, and Brooklyn could use the money. Everyone knew that Oliver was studying for his Masters, Bekah especially since he was hoping to replace her best friend, Lucy when she retired.
