Cade came home from the hospital, feisty and pink, his little fists banging angrily at the air as we drove him home. However, once he got home, he seemed much happier. I could see Lauren tense on the drive, thinking we were in for a rough ride. She doesn’t realize how ‘in’ I am for this parenthood gig.
Meg Schehl (31 years), Jaron Castellanetta (29 years), Rosemary 4 months
I couldn’t believe Rosemary was four months old already; it seemed to have flown past though neither of us could remember what we did before we had her. She was very sweet and rarely fussy, which made adapting to parenthood relatively easy.
After feeding her, she’d happily play on the ground while I got myself ready for the day. My twin brother, Peter had struggled when his daughter, Irina was born. She cried constantly, always needed held, and even now, she wants all the attention. I’d never tell my brother, but his wife, Elise has always been a handful herself, it makes sense their daughter would pick up that personality. We were college roommates, so I know from experience, but my brother has never dated a chill girl in his life, he definitely has a type.
Colleen McCarthy celebrates her first birthday with her maternal grandparents and Aunt Paige. It isn’t that Oliver’s family isn’t excited for Colleen’s birthday, as much as she is the only grandchild and niece for the Lange family, and they are that much more excited.
Trisha took vacation time from the law office so she could bake and shop for the special event. It’s Brooklyn’s birthday as well, so she doesn’t feel like it’s over celebrating. In her opinion, October is the best month for celebrations and baking without all the pressure of the holidays.
Isaac Gavigan (29 years), Lauren (27 years)
We are still working opposite shifts, that isn’t something that will change anytime soon unless one of us drop our jobs. Isaac did get promoted to Stock Manager at the grocery store and is actually bringing in a decent chunk of change. I’m still the breadwinner, but another promotion or so, and I believe he may pass me by.
Etienne Bernard celebrates his 42nd birthday on a particularly stormy spring day. They opt to stay in, and snuggle by their bedroom fire. They moved into their new home in February, but it still has a long way to go before they’ll feel settled.
With the fresh rains and breezes, Violet-Adele’s mood has begun to brighten, and while they still haven’t successfully gotten pregnant, she feels more hopeful than previously.
He had wanted three, she had planned for two.
Nothing had gone as expected, nothing had fit her plan. How naive she had been thinking she could just plan a conception, schedule a pregnancy around sports so her career wouldn’t flounder. She had pitied women who had given themselves up for infants and diapers, but it had taken more than two years for that positive, and she felt ready to barter away anything for two pink lines.
Dr. Morgan had checked them both, and found that it was her. It wasn’t impossible as they would eventually realize, but it wouldn’t be easy. Elise should relinquish any thought of planning a due date, she had suggested gently.
When the pregnancy tests kept showing up negative, Peter eventually suggested they just try for one or maybe they’d be the type of couple to travel the world. He began to paint visuals of this future with only one child or none, a master painter on the canvas, he couldn’t hide his pain from Elise.

We lived a very routine life, I would come home from school and often find Mom resting on Dad’s hammock before her shift at the restaurant.
