The boys were in high school, and with Hazel’s Mom living with them, it made sense to downsize. Hazel loved living right off Lincoln Park, that it took waiting before the perfect house became available. It was a two-story, but much more spacious for holidays and hosting, which was very important to Hazel and Mandy.

Fall semester begins, and mostly Bea is thrilled to be there. She’s placed in the same dorm as her best friend, Willa, and is studying theater which is her ultimate passion. She’s not entirely impressed with her non-theater classes that are forced upon her nor the fact that her bedroom doesn’t have a window.

September Birthdays 2029

School started back up, and Brooklyn found herself back in front of her class, teaching a whole new generation of youth how to cook without burning down their houses. She’s relieved to be past the extreme nausea, but overall, she’s ready to clock out for three months and just be home with her baby.

The students have all been very helpful and extra courteous which has been a wonderful surprise for her. Just one more month has become her workday mantra.

Bea had mostly taken her break-up with Jett like a trooper, as her Dad embarrassingly told her. Bea had known that him heading off to university before her might lead to their destruction. But she didn’t really believe that it would. He’d taken her to his Mom’s wedding, he actually seemed like marriage might even be on his mind, like family and her, that they were both important.

The kids are thrilled to be back in their own home, and away from the farm. The boys didn’t mind missing out on the wedding, but they all detested staying at their Uncle Finn’s farm for a week. He had told their parents he’d put them to work, but they’d thought it was just something adults said. How wrong they had been!

Etienne Bernard (40 years), Violet-Adele McCarthy (37 years)

There had been some resistance over a destination wedding sans kids. But once they arrived, and checked in, there wasn’t a complaint to be heard. She didn’t want to imply that she knew they’d come around to the notion, but she had. She also didn’t really care if any of them hadn’t.

George McCarthy (82 years), Mandy (80 years)

narrated by: Mandy

Of all the time that we’ve spent being the parents of Violet-Adele, George has always tried to rein me in. He insists that Vi takes my love and good intentions, and views it as nagging. Which I would agree with, but since she announced her engagement to Etienne, I have been very laid back. I’m not fussed over wedding plans, or when they’ll eventually (hopefully) have a family.

My biggest concern inregards to Vi, was that she would be alone in the world after me and George are gone. Her brother and sister both have their own families, and even grandchildren when it comes to Finn, and thinking of Vi all alone, was suffocating for me. Oddly enough, George is more keyed up about the wedding than I am.
