Erin Louie (35 years), Bethany (31 years), Logan (11 years), Mallory (8 years)

When Bethany convinced Logan to skip school, she had forgotten one very vital detail, this was modern day. Erin received two text messages and a voicemail that Logan had not been in homeroom, nor had he been excused. After the initial shock, she called her sister and found that it had all been her idea.

She asked Marshal if she could leave work early, he was being more lenient since his wife was 8 months pregnant, and he was planning to bow out himself once the baby arrived.

Over the summer, Erin had allowed Logan to make the decision regarding his surname. He had put on a very mature front, insisting that his Dad was no Father to him, and wanting to share his Mom’s name. He even acknowledged her sacrifice and devotion as a mother to really soften her towards the idea. It wasn’t that she needed any persuading, she had often regretted giving the kids Colin’s last name, but in her gut, she knew that Logan wanted to strike out at Colin, and have Colin prove him wrong, that he was a person who cared.

Logan wouldn’t have been able to change his surname if Colin had protested, but the quick impromptu hearing in front of the judge was met without any opposition. Mallory had joined in on the name change, though she was mostly tagging along with her big brother.

fall birthdays 2028

september 2028

Logan Traver celebrates his eleventh birthday and prepares to start sixth grade this month. Family has always been important to him, and when he learned of his half-sister, Eden’s existence, he immediately wanted to befriend her, so Erin isn’t surprised that he’s retained that into his teen years.

He’s glad that he resembles his Mom more than his deadbeat Dad, and has requested a new surname. He’s hopeful that Nico and his Mom will marry, and then he’ll request to have their last name, otherwise he’s thinking Louie like his Mom and Aunt Bethany. He doesn’t think Colin deserves acknowledgement in his life, but Erin is hesitant to agree as he is still young and prone to impulsive decisions.

Principal: Lucy London
1st-3rd grade teacher: Oliver McCarthy
Prek-Kindergarten teacher: Miriam Dwyer
Student Enrollment

narrated by: Lucy

For the first time in as long as I have worked at Longfellow, which is quite a many years, we have a reduction in students. Census shows that we don’t have any surges in our populace for at minimum the next four years. So our classrooms are less occupied, and the students are getting more one on one attention. All of those things are good. It’d be even better timing to train a replacement principal for myself, while the classes are controllable. I turn sixty-three this year, and imagine I’ll go until I’m sixty-eight or so. Unfortunately I don’t know who to pick, Miriam or Oliver, and then I need a replacement teacher still. I’m putting it off despite knowing I shouldn’t, hopeful that some great teachers will be graduating EU shortly.

With Hatty’s fourth birthday behind us, we finally feel that we are able to focus on our family and home as a whole. With toddlers, there are more basic needs like diaper changes, naps, and frequent snacking. Now all the girls can mostly fend for themselves, that me and Benjamin don’t feel entirely exhausted at the end of the day.
