After years of having a large influx of students, we now are leveling out at a more reasonable rate. It’s made it possible to offer more opportunities for parents to be involved during the school day, especially now that we can host them in the cafeteria for lunch. Oliver held a Parents Day, most parents still work during the day so it doesn’t have a giant turn out, but it was still good fun for the kids.

We were all relieved when Hadley was accepted into Med School. She’s all set up in a rental house out in Eastborough, and we crashed it as soon as she gave us the green light. Leah hasn’t ever been especially close with our daughters despite her best efforts, and she came prepared with cash for the visit.

Scarlett just had her birthday, and Elodie started preschool in the fall, it’s been a rough year for me. Feels like the kids are all growing at exponential speeds. It would have been easier if Elodie didn’t struggle to make friends. I’ve arranged for playdates at our house, at the encouragement of her teacher, Ms. Miriam. And they are always a disaster. Kids can be so mean!

This is my year at Jefferson High School, and I can’t wait to get out of here. Even when Lauren spread rumors that it wasn’t Isaac’s baby I was pregnant with, that wasn’t so hard to take with good friends like Alice to have my back. But now I’m here alone, and have no one to sit with at lunch. I know that in the grand scheme of life, that a lunch partner isn’t the worst thing that could happen, but it feels lonely.
