On a snowy Sunday afternoon, Otto‘s grandparents come over to celebrate his fourth birthday.
His big sister, Penelope is pretty excited her baby brother will be going to school with her in the fall.
She will miss bossing him around and carrying him around the house.
Otto isn’t as outgoing as Penelope, but he makes up for it with his activeness, just like his Mama.

Dean had graduated from EU, and since his longtime girlfriend, Evie had cheated on him, and they’d broken up; it meant he had to move back in with his parents. Kenzie and Tyler had sold their family home, and they’d moved to a one-bedroom bungalow, never thinking Dean would need a home with them again.
Now their son is stuck sleeping on the sofa, and Kenzie feels terrible she couldn’t provide more for him.
She suggests to Tyler that they help Dean buy a house.

Final days of summer, and Penelope spends most of her free time with Otto. She will miss him when she’s stuck back in a classroom; he doesn’t know how lucky he has it.
She calls him her happy chum, although she doesn’t quite know what the word means. It usually makes him giggle, and she can’t get enough of it.
She won’t exactly miss her Dad, he’s been kicking her butt at games for her entire life, and she’s had it. She can beat her best friend, Eileen, but she can’t beat her Dad, and there’s something extra frustrating about that, like perhaps she isn’t as good as thinks.

When Irina was first born, there was a struggle for balance, and I feared returning to work would add even more chaos to our life. Thankfully it hasn’t been the case, as Irina grows, it’s become easier. I was promoted to Events Manager with the agency, and it’s been great being the boss. I was exhausted trying to find my position in the company after maternity leave, and I’ve finally earned recognition.
Peter works less hours than me, so I come home at five o’clock, and I find them in pajamas.

Otto turned one earlier this month and life had gotten much easier. Sure, he got into mischief, but he could speak better, move if he was uncomfortable. If he wanted a banana, he could actually let her know.
However, he still kept wonky sleeping hours and would randomly wake the household with his screams.
