The twins turned fifteen, and for reasons unknown to Marisol, her and Rita were fighting. They’d been best friends since preschool, and now her birthday plans were destroyed.

While her social life took a dive, Manny enjoyed the moment he arrived at home after school. He enjoyed learning, however the social game wasn’t his passion like his twin. Him and Nolan were good friends without drama, and who didn’t mind taking breaks to be alone.

Cesar called a family meeting, asking Ella to come home for the weekend from university; it was to announce a new move for the family.

The twins had grown up in the apartment, it was their first home after their Mom died, and they didn’t really recall Annie at all. So it was really the only home they’d known.

The weight of decision burdens Ella, making every morning a struggle to get out of bed.

Summer break is nearly upon her, and that’s the problem. She desperately wants to sleep in, but all the responsibility and choices lay in those months ahead.

Ella Carver celebrates her eighteenth birthday with a trip to EU. She hasn’t decided yet if she will attend next fall, but she’s pretty positive she will be accepted. She takes her final SAT test this spring, and then she will need to make her decision.

Her sister, Marisol didn’t come to the tour. They’ve never been very close, and Cesar hasn’t been successful in his attempts to bring them together. Manny came though, he’s always been Ella’s cheerleader, and the most akin to her and their late Mom.

Both of the men in her life are really pumped at the idea of college for Ella.

They say things about her sister, things that they don’t say about Ella, like how smart Marisol is, and how well-spoken. Adults have already spoken with Mari about great things like higher education and careers. The twins didn’t remember their Mom, but Manny had always been sensitive to the loss, while Mari had been bold enough to say she was glad to not have been raised in poverty by an alcoholic.
