Half of the school was visiting McCarthy Farms in October. Lucy had used Oliver’s connection to the farm to book the deal, and the school district paid pretty well. Finn had to leave enough apples and pumpkins for the school kids to pick their fill, and while it was mildly stressful when the fruits hadn’t quite ripened yet, it all fell into place.

Finn gave all the kids a quick talking of the rules, all the while his daughter’s dog, Dash howled and made himself into a regular nuisance.

Dad’s been working over-time lately, he’s been trying to save for a vacation to the Cascade Mountains. It seems like everyone I know goes up there for a quick weekend, some of my classmates even own property there, but we have never been. Dad loves to camp, though Mom is not a fan at all. I almost think that she’s not saving that hard because she doesn’t want to stay in a tent.

Oliver McCarthy (32 years), Brooklyn Lange (26 years)

Brooklyn loves kids, she wouldn’t have become a teacher if she didn’t. However, loving them, being pregnant with one, and having them in a wedding were not of the same cloth. Oliver’s nieces and nephew tore up their bedroom, and frankly, she was too pregnant and exhausted from the end of year grading to deal with it.

Chris turns forty this month, and thought he ought to dye his hair back to natural before he went totally gray. He saw that my cousin, Monroe was rocking a faux hawk of sorts, and he decided that it was time he got more adult hair.

summer birthdays 2027

june 2027

Recently minted as a big sister, Mavis celebrates her fourth birthday this summer. Nadia and Luca are both immensely proud of their eldest daughter as she has embraced being a big sister quite quickly, and is full of individuality and spunk.

Like her big brother, Kai she already exhibits a great desire for knowledge and isn’t afraid to show her inexperience or disbelief when someone yanks her chain.

George McCarthy (82 years), Mandy (80 years)

narrated by: Mandy

Of all the time that we’ve spent being the parents of Violet-Adele, George has always tried to rein me in. He insists that Vi takes my love and good intentions, and views it as nagging. Which I would agree with, but since she announced her engagement to Etienne, I have been very laid back. I’m not fussed over wedding plans, or when they’ll eventually (hopefully) have a family.

My biggest concern inregards to Vi, was that she would be alone in the world after me and George are gone. Her brother and sister both have their own families, and even grandchildren when it comes to Finn, and thinking of Vi all alone, was suffocating for me. Oddly enough, George is more keyed up about the wedding than I am.

George McCarthy (80 years), Mandy (78 years)

narrated by: George

It’s pretty quiet during the week with just me and Mandy. Usually it’s just Sydney freaking out about the mailman to break the silence of the house. We did family photos recently, and I can honestly say that we never imagined our family blossoming in the way it has through the generations. When we had Finn and Hazel, we never envisioned great grandchildren, but have seven now because of Finn’s oldest daughters.
