Miriam’s birthday sneaks up on her, forty-seven years old. It baffles her, time has gone quickly, but strangely slow in the same breath. They’d talked about having a baby, but with this birthday, it seems foolish. She really is getting too old to start over.

She tries to escape her own head by taking the girls dress shopping. They’ve decided on a quiet ceremony at the park, afterall second marriages don’t usually warrant the same fanfare.

Shira is amped up, dresses excite her, but it isn’t the same story for Scarlett or Elodie.

Isaiah and Maeve Gavigan’s daughter, Margot turns one the day before they sign on their new house out in Millwood.

They are both eager to give Margot a sibling, and their two bedroom apartment didn’t fit their needs anymore. Maeve is saddened to leave Margot’s nursery behind for some new tenant to paint over. Isaiah has promised that the new house will make an even better nursery.

Paloma is six months pregnant with the twins, and already feels grotesquely huge. She struggles just getting out of bed with all the weight she’s carrying in the front.

Each morning, Adam comes out of the bathroom, as she’s preparing to go in. He gives the twins a good morning talk, tells them to stay put, and that they have to listen, because he is their Dad.

It was a measly one month shy of two years since Adam proposed. Paloma could hardly believe that they’d managed to wait that long. Getting married had been one of the biggest things on Paloma’s list when growing up, but since the birth of her bakery, the actual ceremony hadn’t seemed that important anymore.

She was grateful that her family had talked her out of a wedding at her bakery, though she was certain it would have been a lovely, intimate affair; the lighthouse was a luxury that she wouldn’t soon forget.
